She has daily visits from a care agency to help with washing and dressing and has a really good relationship with Marjorie, her next door neighbour, who calls in every day. Mrs Adams likes to spend time talking to her carers about events from the past but often gets confused. She has been assessed under the Mental Capacity Act and is deemed to have capacity.
Mrs Adams keeps trying to give staff a large amount of money – over £100. When carers try to explain that they don’t need to be paid Mrs Adams insists that Marjorie (her next door neighbour) always takes the money for cleaning materials. On checking the cupboards there are no cleaning materials to be found. A carer has asked Marjorie about the cleaning and she insists that she cleans the kitchen and bathroom for Mrs Adams every week. She admits that Mrs Adams insists on giving her money and she only takes it so that she doesn’t offend her.
