Topic: Is Richard Branson a transformational leader?

    Description

    A) Introduction: this needs to set out the purpose of report and should state what your planned research question is – what are you trying to find out?

    B) Background: ‘context’: of the topic
    The research plan should:
Clearly explain the context (eg introduction to the organisation and/or history of the situation) and the rationale for the research. You should aim to explain the broad background against which you will conduct your research. You should include a brief overview of the general area of study within which your planned research falls, summarising the current state of knowledge and recent debates on the topic. In this section you should also indicate how why your research will be useful to either individuals or businesses. How might it fill gaps in existing work or extend understanding of particular topics?

    C) Methodology
    The research plan should:
Identify an appropriate research methodology that is relevant for the topic and the aims and objectives of the intended research, logically explaining how it is relevant and providing a rationale for the selection of this approach over others. For example are you going to carry out primary data collection or rely solely on secondary data? Are you going to use a mixture of both? How will you collect your primary data – will you use interviews, focus groups or questionnaires? Why have you chosen the method(s) you are using? Are there any limitations in using these methods – what are they? How will you collect and record the data? How will you analyse it? Think about the practical and ethical considerations.

    D) Bibliography – the main literature that will be included in the full review within your research report
    The research plan should:
Set out what literature you aim to review in your research report – which authors are key researchers in this area? What publications should you include? Why are these good sources of information? Are there any key works, books or articles that you must include?

    E) List of References
    The research plan should:
Be fully and consistently referenced using the Harvard British Standard referencing system (see details on Moodle for guidance).

    In addition the plan should:
Have correct and appropriate language, grammar and spelling.
    Have an appropriate structure.
Be professionally presented, appropriate to both academic and business audiences.
Have adhered to the specified word count.
