The research should focus on arson myths (pour patterns, concrete spalling, crazed glass, melted metals, alligatoring, etc.), not on case studies. In other words, the main focus should not be on discussing people who have been wrongfully convicted. The main focus should be on the incorrect science that was previously used in fire investigations.
The main thing to mention in the research is that it sets the standard for scientific fire investigation and that investigators can no longer rely on outdated beliefs and practices.
(One of the resources must be the article Anatomy of a wrongful arson conviction which I have attached images below (pages 32-40).
You will also find two images attached below that are helpful as well, one with the headline (Text 2: Six dangerous myths about arson), and one with the headline (Arson investigations: Myths Vs Facts).
The link below should be also be mentioned in the research as it has a lot info: (https://sites.google.com/site/metropolitanenvironmental/lack-of-science-is-behind-many-false-arson-cause-and-origin-investigations)

the readings from Book 1—Ch. 1,2,3 and Book 2-Ch.1 then complete
the reflection paper.
Writing a Reflection
Public Policy is very complex. We will be studying many different facets of policy; some maybe of greater interest to you than others. The reflection paper allows you to review areas of interests in your readings and write in those areas.
Using the week’s readings as the main background, write up key aspects of the readings that interest you. You should add to the readings with examples, your experience, and other sources—-3-4 pages, double spaced.
The reflection paper
should have an introduction, main body, and summary/conclusion. Eighty percent
of the paper should briefly cover the readings with about (20 percent)
discussing your opinion/experience related to the readings. The best papers
utilize information from both required books. The paper should be well crafted
and tell a story.
Based on your
readings for the week, write a well crafted reflection paper. Ensure to
properly cite your references.
Helpful hints in writing your paper:
should always start with an attention-grabbing “headline” first
sentence and paragraph to introduce your topic. Then follow the basic format of
Introduction, the Main Body and the Conclusion.
the introduction, you tell the reader what you are going to review. Your paper
should focus on several areas of interest from your readings/lecture or the
assignment topic from the instructor.
the body of the paper you review your main topic with references to the
readings, lecture and outside references/anecdotes, if any.
the conclusion, you provide your short conclusion. I want to read/hear your
“voice” in terms of the conclusion.
don’t just provide a quote or cited narrative from a study or scholar to your
paper without explaining why that reference was added. I don’t want a
“book report” about what others wrote. Citing the authors is fine —
just add your commentary to the paper. Use APA formatting guidelines!
