Important events in the NEOLITHIC revolution age in Europe

This was a period where the Neolithic technology had taken its roots in Europe. It was between 7000 BC and 1700 BC. The duration of this period however differs from one region to the next. It end was marked by introduction of bronze. Those living during this period bore the same characteristics.

They lived in small communities that were family based, domesticated plants and animals and were collectors also known as gatherers of wild fruit. They carried out activities such as hunting and pottery. These individuals invented tools that would help them make their lives easier. They made the axes that helped in clearing of forests to carry out agriculture.

This information is acquired from archeology and no historical records are available. These people are known not to have left any records of their existence. Linguistics has contributed to efficient reconstruction of the early European languages.

All Neolithic sites in Europe contain ceramics, as well as plants and animals such as pigs and goats. These animals and plants however were adapted from Southwest Asia and the only crop that was domesticated in East Asia was the broomcorn millet.

The culture of the early Neolithic period is similar compared to the late Mesolithic and the later Neolithic. Spread of cultures took place through diffusion. Cultural diffusion led to a flow of ideas and trade between the European population and the farmers.

The migration of people has been a debate among the archaeologists since some are not sure whether the migration was influenced by development of technology or utter satisfaction of adventure.

Due to absence of records, the information presented about the Neolithic period is not necessarily on point and may differ. All we can do is utilize that which has been discovered to satisfy curiosity.
