For your take home midterm we ask that you to put two scenes (or short sequences) from two different films screened in the first half of the semester in conversation. You will do a close analysis of each scene, selecting 2 to 3 different aspects of film form and style we’ve studied up to this point in the semester (up to chap 5 on cinematography). Supported by the course readings and lectures, you will compare and contrast how each filmmaker utilizes these formal elements in a concise and well-structured 1500 word essay.
