Topic: Case study analysis on Comprehensive Learning Plan with mini presentation

Assessment Task 2: Case Study (including mini-presentation)
Part 1: Mini Presentation
Part 2: Comprehensive Learning Plan
PLEASE UPLOAD CASE STUDY ONLINE ON DISCUSSION FORUM TO OBTAIN TIMELY PEER FEEDBACK.
PLEASE NOTE PEER FEEDBACK FOR PART 1 IS DUE BY SEPTEMBER 28, 2019. THIS IS AN INTEGRAL ASPECT OF THE TASK AND ALSO PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR INCLUSIVE AND COLLABORATIVE COMMUNICATION. SO PLEASE ENSURE YOU PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO AT LEAST 2 PEERS ON THEIR MINI-PRESENTATION.
AT2 is a collaborative task. You will work individually to develop a case study of a learner, focusing on their communication skills, and leading to the development of a personalised learning plan. You will then work collaboratively with several of your peers to view and give constructive feedback on the presentations of your peers. You should also expect to receive peer feedback on your own presentation; you should reflect upon this feedback in the development of Part 2 of the assessment task.
Part 1 – Mini Presentation 15%, 2.5-3 minutes (equivalent to 750 words per person)
Please note: This task is considered to be equivalent to a 750 word written task, but your presentation length should be measured in minutes rather than words.
The Task
You will prepare a mini presentation of approximately 2.5-3 minutes in length to communicate the case study of a learner to your peers.
It is important that you maintain the confidentiality of the learner as well as any other identifiable information (eg. school name).
Your presentation should include:
 Relevant background information about the learner
 Specific communication skills of your learner
 An explanation of how you found this information about the learner
 An explanation of specific aspects of the learner’s literacy and social skill development that need support
 You will use a range of appropriate assessment strategies to uncover the specific communication skills of your learner, focusing on literacy and social skill development.
 Goals and strategies for the learner relating specifically to these areas for support
 Use unit teaching and learning materials and other academic resources to substantiate your chosen strategies.
The Online Presentation
As you will be creating an electronic presentation and you will not be presenting it live – you need to consider the logistics of this. Your presentation needs to be engaging and it must be something that your audience can ‘view’ rather than ‘navigate’ (ie. a PowerPoint presentation consisting only of stagnant slides is not appropriate) – think of a good YouTube video or a great TED Talk that you’ve seen what what made it engaging.

Feedback
You will receive feedback from your peers via the CloudDeakin discussion forum following your presentation, which you should use to guide your thinking in Part 2. You will also provide feedback on two of the presentations of your peers. Timely feedback should be provided to your peers by October 1, 2019 at 11.59pm.
Note: If you do not upload your mini-presentation to the discussion boards by the September 28 2019 due date (only on discussion board), you may not receive feedback from peers in time to use it in the development of Part 2. This is only on the discussion board. Submit Part 1 to assignment dropbox on September 26, 2019
In providing feedback, you should consider the requirements for Part 2: Personalised Learning Plan and shape your feedback so that you are assisting your peers in the development of their learning plan.
Consider the following prompts to guide your feedback:
 The purpose of a learning plan purpose and benefit the described learner – have you learnt enough about the learner to know this? If not, what questions could you pose for your peer?
 Can you recommend any potentially useful academic articles or resources your peer might find helpful?
 What are your thoughts on the proposed strategies? In your opinion are they suitable for the learner? Do you feel that a certain strategy could be used and hasn’t been mentioned?
Mini Presentation Marking Criteria
It is essential that you consider the marking criteria and marking rubric when completing your assignment.
 Relevant and clearly expressed information about the learner (20 Marks)
 Evidence of purposeful and appropriate use of assessment strategies (20 Marks)
 Proposed strategies are relevant, clearly stated and thoughtfully supported by appropriate academic literature (35 Marks)
 Presentation style & use of Harvard citation system is accurate and appropriate (25 Marks)
Part 2 – Personalised Learning Plan (Report) 35% 1750 words
Having collaborated with your peers, you will continue to design the learning plan for your student. The final Personalised Learning Plan should focus solely on communication supporting literacy and social skill development in the context of an Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, or Adult Education setting, not on every aspect of the learner’s educational development.
The report will comprise of three key sections (ALL included in the 1750 word count):
 Rational: To contextualise the learning plan and explain its purpose and intended benefit to your learner
 Overview of Relevant Literature: Outline the academic research supporting your chosen strategies and their usefulness for the purpose you intend for the learner.
 Personalised Learning Plan: You must ensure that your PLP contains clear information and that strategies are user-friendly.
You should use the feedback you received on your Mini Presentation to guide your writing of this section (you may, for example, choose to refine your strategies for the learner based on the feedback you have received) but you should not feel as though you are starting from scratch – this is a scaffolded assignment and much of the information within your Part 1 presentation should be directly relevant to Part 2.
Please submit evidence (screen shots) of your feedback to two peers as an appendix to you Part 2 report.
A note relating to the word count: You only have 1750 words (+/-10%), so be clear, succinct and leave yourself time for drafting and editing. Your Personalised Learning Plan should be full of useful information that is easily accessible; think about using tools to organise the information such as headings, subheadings, bullet points, tables/diagrams, brief quotes/paraphrasing – all of these are considered acceptable ways of communicating within this report.
