Prompt :Write an argumentative essay on who would win in a fight: a Girl Scout who can magically summon anything from a hardware store instantly, but has palms that permanently stick to whatever they touch OR a Goose the size of a regular horse that can breathe fire but has terrible hiccups. These two are fighting on a completely empty but enclosed football stadium. Be super creative, but keep in mind academic language and formal tone, meaning no first person. At least two sourcesare required with a Works Cited. This is a completely fictional argument with fictional characteristics, look at it from all possible perspectives! Your research must be logical, even as you apply it to the fictional fight.
Thisprompt requires you to consider Rhetorical Situation (Audience, Purpose, Genre, Stance, Context, Medium) and still use formal tone with academic language, something that I have seen many of you improve upon greatly over the semester. With either prompt you choose, you are using this argument as a chance to demonstrate what you have learned throughout the semester and how you have developed your writing skill. Keep in mind a few things: formal tone, developed sentences, avoiding repetition, correct MLA format (includes heading, page number, font, spacing, citations), structure, organization, transitions, and most importantly WINNING OVER YOUR AUDIENCE with appeals to emotion, logic, or character (logic will play the heaviest role in both, followed by character in prompt 1). These are meant to test your writing skill and creativity, so think outside the box!
