This assignment will assess your application of the USAWC Strategy Formulation Model, and your ability to synthesize key concepts in the development of American strategy related to Iran.

Define the concept of national power from a liberalism perspective and evaluate how the instruments of power can be employed to secure national interests and achieve strategic objectives.
Synthesize the key concepts, tools, and processes depicted by the USAWC Strategy Formulation Model in developing appropriate national-level policies and strategies addressing contemporary national security issues.

Define the problem and then identify and prioritize top strategic objectives for U.S. strategy as they relate specifically to Iran. In the course of this discussion, you should be able to offer a solid rationale for your prioritization of these objectives. As you develop these objectives, keep in mind the desired end-states (interests) provided in the 2017 National Security Strategy. The 2018 National Defense Strategy can also provide you some insights on how to craft objectives. Moreover, the President expects you to clearly identify where your objectives are mutually supportive and where they might be somewhat in tension with one another.
